Guide to Japan
I've been wanting to write about Japan for a long time. So far I've held back because I haven't really been sure about what to include and how I would present it. But now that it's finally here, I hope this helps someone in their future trips to Japan. If you think I've missed anything - write a comment and share your favourite places!
Nature always has a special place in my heart. When I grew up, my family often would take me out on trips to the nature.
Senjogahara is a giant marshland in Nikko, Tochigi. Surrounding the marsh is mountains that. It's a mighty experience standing on the plateau, looking out over what can only be described as something from a painting. To get here you'll have to travel by train from Tokyo to begin with, then go by bus for quite some time with the Kinugawa-onsen bus line. Once at the last stop, you'll have to walk for quite some time to get to the marshland, but it's a fun and easy hike. You'll be mesmerised by the beauty of the forest, going along the small river flowing from Lake Yuno and the loud and mighty Yudaki waterfall. After passing through the Senjogahara area, you'll be able to see the Ryuzu waterfalls and Lake Chuzenji.
The easiest way to get to Senjogahara: If you're a foreigner visiting Japan, Tobu Railway has great offers when it comes to passes for traveling around in the Nikko area. The Nikko All Area pass will get you all the way to the top and back. You can find more information about passes on Tobu Railways homepage.
